Gary Wayne Nealy

Gary Wayne Nealy a resident of Lynchburg Tn, moved from this world to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday Dec 2nd, 2023, at Nashville General Hospital surrounded by family and longtime friends. A private celebration of life will be held at his home on Tim’s Ford Lake. Gary was born in Indianapolis Indiana on February 18th, 1957, to the late Gilbert Nealy and the late Glee Nealy and raised in Warren County, Ky where he attended Alvaton school. Gary was a proud General Motors employee working 34 years before retirement. He was an avid Kentucky Wildcat fan and could be found sitting with a cold glass of Pepsi yelling at the game. Gary was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church (Columbia, Tn) where he grew in his faith and love of the Lord. He had a special connection with his small group and considered them as family, he loved them without bounds, and deeply cherished their friendship. He particularly looked forward to his yearly Gatlinburg trips with the group and doing comedy acts for the senior banquet. Gary had a home that was welcoming to all and filled with love and laughter, when his children were kids his home would be filled with neighborhood friends playing games or just hanging out, they could come and go without knocking, they were always welcome. Gary would be excited to host the family holidays and for his home to be filled with his kids, grandkids, and dear friends bustling around laughing and eating great food and he always looked forward to his yearly Christmas present of Stetson cologne. In the summers Gary coached his son’s baseball teams where he could also be found yelling at umpires . While coaching he loved building relationships with his players and enjoyed joking back and forth with them, he loved them dearly. He loved smoking meat on his smoker, fertilizing tomato plants, pontoon rides on the lake, and taking trips with his wife Renee, and would always get excited if he found glass bottles of nu grape along the way. Gary had a big heart and loved big and brought many others into his circle and considered them all as family. If you knew him, he probably invited you over for his gumbo or his Christmas hash. He adored his wife Renee and loved his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He will be missed beyond measure. Gary was preceded in death by his Father Gilbert Nealy, Mother Glee Nealy, Brother Garnett Nealy, and Sister Diana Page and his brother in Christ Joe Hopper. He is survived by his loving wife Renee Nealy of Lynchburg, Tn, his brother Ray (Fannie) Nealy of Woodburn, Ky, three sons Dennis (Ashley) Nealy of Columbia Tn, Garnett (Kristy) Nealy of Hampshire Tn , Kenny Nealy of Key West, FL and Daughter Cassie (Matt) Burns of Culleoka, Tn, as well as 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
