Joyce T. Dye

Joyce T. Dye of Lynchburg, Tennessee, passed from this life on Monday, April 22, 2024, at her residence at the age of 80 years. A native of Alabama, she was the daughter of the late William Marion and Minnie Lee Bailey Tankersley. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dervel Dye with whom she shared 50 years of marriage, before his passing in 2013. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Gary Gilliland. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Lynchburg Funeral Home in Lynchburg, Tennessee. Burial will follow at Head of Hurricane Cemetery in Lynchburg. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Thursday, April 25, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Joyce was a high school graduate and worked for many years at Farmers Bank in Lynchburg. She was a long-time member of the Head of Hurricane Baptist Church. Joyce loved working in her yard taking care of her flowers, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved God and loved reading her Bible. Although we will be traveling to Head of Hurricane Cemetery for the final disposition of Ms. Dye's body, that will not be her final resting place. Her final resting place will be in Heaven with the Lord. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and she couldn’t wait for the season to start. She often gave it a jump start very early on. Sometimes she would begin decorating as early as September or October. Survivors include three children, Brent (Brenda) Dye of Lynchburg, Bruce (Jennifer) Dye of Lynchburg, Brooke (Chris) Gipson of Estill Springs, brother, Ken (Linda) Tankersley of Goodlettsville, sisters, Faye (Jimmy) Burks of Tullahoma, Donna (Roger) McKee of Fort Worth, Texas, eight grandchildren, Brittany Hartman, Bridgett Edwards, Cassie Wright, Bradley Dye, Autumn Meeks, Jayton North, Macy Stewart, and Kamryn Hickerson.
