MRS BETTY JO BURGESS

Mrs. Betty Jo Burgess age 74 of Hillsboro TN passed away Sunday, September 20 at her residence. A native of Lincoln County she was a daughter of the late Earl Thompson and Tennie Smith Thompson. Mrs. Burgess was a member of College St. Baptist Church in Tullahoma. She was a homemaker who enjoyed watching television, tending to her flowers, and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burgess was preceded in death by husbands Erskin Owens, and Harold F. Burgess; son, Lawrence Wayne Owens; stepsons, Hal Burgess, Carter Burgess, and stepdaughter, Carlotta Hill, sisters Marie Lasater, Gelean Cothran, Robbie Mitchell and Brenda Hillard. Survivors include her son, Gary Owens and wife Peggy of Moore County; daughter Judy Money and husband Bobby of Hillsboro; stepsons Ronald Burgess and wife Carolyn of Tullahoma, and Roger Burgess of Tullahoma, and step daughter Debbie Taylor of Tullahoma, brother Jerry Thompson of Elton TN and sisters Peggy Collins of Cullman AL and Mary Owens of New Market, AL.. Mrs. Burgess is also survived by eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Tuesday September 22, 2015 from 5-9 PM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday September 23, 2015 at 2 PM with Bro. Randall Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Chapel Cemetery.
