EMILY PARKS DANIEL

November 14, 1921 - January 23, 2012

Ruth Daniel, 90, passed away at the Lincoln Care Center on January 23, 2012. She was a native of Lincoln County and the daughter of Harry T. and Nova Pitts Parks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Cooper Daniel; brother, William (Billy) Parks; sisters, Mildred Parks George and Louise Parks Rutledge; and cousin, Nell Daniel Tucker. Mrs. Daniel was an employee of Jack Daniel Distillery and a member of Lynchburg Church of Christ. She is survived by four nieces: Billie Sue Boyer, Donna Redd, Harriet Hendrix and Emily Rutledge, four nephews: Joe George, John Rutledge, James Rutledge and Russell Parks, and a large number of grandnieces and -nephews. Funeral services are 2 P.M., Thursday, January 26, in the chapel of Lynchburg Funeral Home, with visitation from 11 A.M. until 2 P.M. preceding the service.  Bro. Richard Logan is officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Moore County Library. Emily Ruth Parks Daniel was born November 14, 1921 in Fayetteville, TN, the youngest of four siblings. She moved to Mulberry and later to Lynchburg, following her marriage to Joe Cooper Daniel in 1955. "Miss Ruth" was invited to be a hostess at the Jack Daniel Visitor Center Barrel House, serving lemonade and hospitality to a legion of visitors to the Hollow. She served as secretary for the Lynchburg Historical Society and as a member of the Moore County Library board for many years. Her life was well lived, generously devoting her time and skills to her family and friends.
