Jeweldine Bates Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mrs. Jeweldine Bates age 78, of Lynchburg passed away Wednesday afternoon at her residence. A native of Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Hurley and Minnie Johnson. She was a cashier at Ed’s Bi Rite for years and a member of Hickory Hill Baptist Church where she was very active. She taught Sunday School , sang in the choir, headed up vacation Bible school, worked in the church nursery. She always cooked for church meals and was best known for her banana pudding. She enjoyed hummingbirds, loved to feed her cats; Sam and Muffin and her dog, Mitt. She is survived by her husband John W. Bates of Lynchburg, sons; Adrian Bates of Tullahoma and Ronnie Bates and his wife veronica of Mt. Pleasant, TN. Daughter, Denise Dye and her husband Chris of Lynchburg. Brother, Hilton Johnson and his wife Karita of Georgetown, TN, sister; Melba Cahela of Kelso. Grandchildren; Dawn Kirby and her husband Todd of Lewisburg, Erica Fanning and her husband James of Lynchburg, Jeremy Bates and his wife Shannon of Shelbyville, Jamie Sullenger and her husband Mark of Tullahoma, Ryan Bates and his wife Tiffany of Lynchburg, Jill Rael and her husband Travis of Mulberry and Allyson Bates of Mt. Pleasant, TN. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Christine Lackey and Madeline Gatlin. The family will receive friends Friday February 7, 2014 at Lynchburg Funeral Home from 11:00 AM until time of services beginning at 2:00 PM with Bro. Randy Alexander officiating.
