August 6, 1917 - December 1, 2015
Margaret Lindsay Templeton Tolley passed from the earth December 1st, 2015. She entered the world on the 6th of August, 1917 to Mamie Lindsay Templeton and Hurley Marcus Templeton in Fayetteville, TN. She was married to her late husband, Jim Conner Tolley, for 24 years of laughter and love. From a large and loving family, Margaret is preceded in heaven by her siblings Joe Wiley Templeton, William Templeton, and Ruth Templeton Strong, along with her dearest friend Leola Dismukes. Margaret is survived by family and friends that will sorely miss her warm heart and nurturing nature. They include the loves of life, her children Lee and his wife Pat of Franklin, TN and Lynne and her husband Tom Brown of Lynchburg; her cherished grandsons Conner and John (Nancy); her devoted sisters Ruby Hyde and Kathleen Fanning; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. In her autumn years, Margaret was tended to with care by Louise Stiles, Sheila Watts, and Sandy Bray. Their kindness will be forever in the hearts of her family. Margaret graduated from the Nashville School of Business in 1938. She held many jobs over the years, her most beloved being proprietress of Lynchburg’s first flower shop and being a hostess at both the Jack Daniel Distillery and Miss Mary Bobo’s Boarding House alongside her daughter. Margaret was famously the life of the party, noted for her country cooking and her keen wit. She loved to gather with kith and kin, breaking bread and telling tales into the night. Her smile warmed the soul and the twinkle in her eye shone as if it were plucked from the heavens. Margaret loved history and donations in her honor can be made to the Moore County Historical Society In lieu of flowers and tears, Margaret clearly stated her wish that you honor her memory by holding close the ones you hold dear and telling them how much they mean to you every chance you get. It is her greatest hope that for the rest of your years you laugh deep, love profoundly, smile often, be kind to your fellow man, see the world around you, and never keep a good joke to yourself. Visitation with the family will be held Thursday Dec. 3 from 5-7 PM at the Lynchburg Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will also be held Friday at 11AM until time of service. Funeral will be Friday Dec. 4, 2015 at the funeral home at noon with Chaplain Ted Fanning and Rev. Ed Templeton officiating. Burial will follow at the Lynchburg Cemetery.
