Geneva Belle Alford

Geneva Sorenson Alford April 22, 1929-June 23, 2022 The loving, long and joyful life of Geneva came to a close on June 23rd 2022 in the loving embrace of her immediate family. She will be sorely missed. She was a faithful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who always put the needs of others before her own. She will be remembered for her gracius and giving spirit,generosity, and hospitality. She had a way of making those around her feel very special, included and comfortable. She was always a good listener_ Her foremost love was her family and she was always there for them. Geneva was a member of the Moore County FCE. In years gone by she was an active member of The Order of the Eastern Star and the Ladies of the Oriental Shrine. She enjoyed being the editor of their little newsletter. She was an avid reader and excelled in the art of cooking, gardening and home making. She never lost her interest in politics. Geneva enjoyed the outdoors whether it was gardening or playing by the seashore. In her younger years she enjoyed camping, canoeing, rock hunting and lapidary. She had an inquisitive nature and loved to explore. Geneva and her daughter, Kim, travelled the wor1d and were privileged to live in Japan for 15 years. She loved all kinds of music and was a devoted country music fan. Her working years were in the civilian community and the Department of Defense. After her formal retirement in 1989, she and her daughter spent 17 years as travel agents. Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, her husband E. P. (Al) Alford, and her son-in-law Daniel J. Bailey. She is survived by her daughter, Kim C. Bailey, her granddaughter Kelly 8. Carver, and 3 stepchildren, Katherine Alford Pippen, Denise Alford Llewellyn, and Garret Alford. Geneva is also survived by her brother S. Arthur Sorenson and her sister Susy Sorenson Eisele, along with a host of very fine nieces and nephews. Geneva was born in Glenwood City, W1Sconsin on April 22, 1929, the oldest child of Arthur W. Sorenson and Beulah Midji Sorenson. She graduated from Glenwood City High School in 1946 and then attended a couple years of night school at the University of Minnesota. After that she moved around the U.S. and travelled abroad. Needless to say she loved to travel. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the ASPCA and Moore County Friends of Animals. A private grave side service wilt be held at some time in the future.
