Michael Gavin McFerrin

Michael Gavin McFerrin, 51, resident of Fayetteville, TN since 1990, passed away at Vanderbilt Harton Hospital in Tullahoma, TN on October 27. Gavin, as he is known, is survived by his parents, David Michael McFerrin of Fayetteville, and Alberta Groce, also of Fayetteville. His daughter Madisyn McFerrin (Jonas Smith) with granddaughter Elowyn Smith, of Greenbriar, TN, son Ethan McFerrin, and daughter Trinity McFerrin both of Fayetteville. Also, his sister Miki Campbell (Kenny) of Fayetteville, sister Tisha Norman, (Terry) of Lubbock, Tx, and his cousin Cheryl Hicks (Carlton) of Mulberry, TN. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews that loved him greatly. He was preceded in death by grandparents Rupert and Jean McFerrin of Fayetteville, Herbert Groce of Lynchburg, TN and Agnes Miles of Fayetteville. Also preceded by his brother-in-law Jeff Paris. Friends may visit with the family November 8, 2025, from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Lynchburg Funeral Home. A memorial service will immediately follow. Per his wishes, he will be cremated following the service. Gavin worked in commercial construction in Madison County, AL and Nashville, TN, serving in many roles from project manager to foreman. He was also a long-time employ of Goodman Manufacturing for many years, enjoying his job and the people he worked with. Gavin was an avid disc golf enthusiast, playing with friends, but also teaching the game to his children. He also developed a liking to bike riding to keep fit and enjoyed long rides through Fayetteville with his kids, his most enjoyable ride at Montesano Mountain in Madison County where they shared a ride and hiking. He enjoyed tinkering of all sorts, painting his house, mowing his lawn, and anybody who knew him knew his love for always modifying his vehicle in all manners of change. Gavin was also a lover of Joe Bonamassa, his favorite blues guy. But when it came down to it, he enjoyed his children. Those were his priorities. He supported his youngest daughter Trinity in her ball playing, never missing a game if he could help it, going everywhere to watch her. , and he supported Ethan and Madisyn in their musical endeavors with the guitar, making band concerts, always clapping the loudest, proud of all of their academic achievements, and keeping every piece of paper, artwork, report card, cards, anything at all from the kids. Being a single dad was his best accomplishment, he would say. He always said his three children were his best effort in this world. Gavin was a Christian and was ready to meet Jesus. He did not back down from his faith, he wore it proudly. He left this world and entered Paradise fully healed and happy, disease free. We shall meet again there on those shores.
